I’m admittedly a little behind in posting this, since Open Streets took place Oct. 1. But the Daily Detroit Happy Hour Podcast recently hosted Lisa Nuszkowski, founder and executive director of Detroit Bike Share and project lead for Open Streets Detroit, and you should totally listen, if you’re a geek about that sort of stuff like I am.
Although Nuszkowski says the event is likely to be repeated for a third year next year, you might want to skip past the opening talk about Open Streets to around 9:00 for a discussion of how Detroit’s MoGo bike share program is faring after recording its first summer in use.
“It’s been a phenomenal summer,” Nuszkowski said, adding that the system appears to be serving its targeted diverse audience of users.
“We really wanted to build something that would speak to everybody, and that’s what we’ve been seeing,” she said. “We’ve had really strong ridership over the course of our first four months, we’re looking to continue that strong ridership into the fall.”
