The last straw was when a friend who was visiting recently from New York City asked me about my blog and told me I had to upgrade its appearance. “It looks like a website from the ’90s,” he said.
It was a harsh judgment, and I’d beg to differ: I’d time-stamp its original appearance more circa 2000, since the ultra-spartan design was at least clean, which was not an attribute that comes to mind with the Internet 1.0 of the 1990s.
I’ve always had more ideas for how I’d like my blog to look than I have the technical chops to make it happen. If you’ve visited 8-Wood before, you’ll notice things look different. A new theme, for now, but there will be more changes to come.
There appear to be some caching issues, or something, that were causing the homepage to look different on different browsers and on mobile; so far there are signs that issue is working itself out over time. Having just tonight flipped the switch, I’m also hoping I don’t have to go in and manually set featured images for nearly a year’s worth of posts. All I’m saying is, expect glitches.
Anyway, I’d love to hear your feedback on the changes or other suggestions. Love ’em? Hate ’em? Had similar issues changing themes?
Are you ready for some darkness? Aimez-vous la bière?
And, what’s wrong with the ’90s? Your friend must be one of those damn millennials 🙂
I’d take the 90s over the aughts any day, although the jury’s still out on the teens.
